How can we keep ourselves healthy? Simple question, hard to answer
Every day we hear or read about nutrition. Every single day and week we say that would be the day that we start to care more about our health.
The diet starts on Monday. From tomorrow I'll start running at least twice per week
How many lies we are supposed to tell ourselves before actually taking some action?
Sometimes we need motivation from others to start a new lifestyle. Would be ideal to have a lifestyle coach who kicks us every time we skip meals or we exceed in junk food. Oh, I would love that! But of course, is not possible, all the magic happens thanks to us and our choices. Again, easy to say, such hard to achieve. Having bad nutrition is not only about gaining weight and don't fit anymore in our old jeans. Having a healthy lifestyle is more important for our mood and our success in life.
Why should we take care of our nutrition?
NUTRITION IS AN IMMUNITY BOOSTER
Having good nutrition can improve our health and well-being. Here starts the role of vitamin supplements.No, this doesn't mean that we have a solution. What we need to do is improve our health by adding the missing vitamins we need. Eventually, we support our diet with supplements. For example, the hardest vitamin to absorb from our bodies seems to be vitamin D. Vitamin D is essential for energy, bones, and immune system boost. We can find vitamin D in meat and fish (salmon, mackerel, and beef liver). We can also find it in other animal products such as egg yolks and dairy products. It's important to make sure to have all the vitamins that our body needs to grow and stay healthy.
NUTRITION IMPROVES MENTAL HEALTH
The assumption of particular nutrients reduce our stress and improve our sleep.
In a word: happiness. To improve our mood and be happy, we need to include the right amount of antioxidants, vitamins, fibers, and healthy fats (Omega 3s) in our diet. Our mind is not less important than our body. Without the engine, the car can't move, the same for our body.
CHOOSE LOCAL PRODUCTS FOR A BETTER-QUALITY NUTRITION
When we decide to support locals, we opt for more fresh products. which is good and inspiring and this has an even less impact on the environment.
PLANT-BASED FOR A MORE SUSTAINABLE NUTRITION
This has right and wrong sides. It's actually good to choose a vegetarian diet. Including more veggies and fruits in our diet is good, but we need to be careful about it. Every time we choose a diet, we need to make sure to include every nutrient. By that, I mean the vegetarian and or vegan diet, needs to include the right amount of proteins and vitamins. Me, as a vegetarian, I know it's not easy to get all the nutrients with this kind of diet, but is not actually impossible. Especially now in 2021, we have a lot of meat alternatives that have more nutrients than the meat itself. We need to be more patient and find the right products, that are not a result of processed food. This means, that when we decide to go with a plant-based steak or burger, we should check how are they made.If we can't find these products that are not processed, is better to stick with all the legumes available. Lentils, chickpeas, and more are way better than a processed vegan burger. Another good quantity of nutrients is inside our dear Tofu. The tofu is not the easiest thing to cook but is way more worthy than a processed burger. DRINK LOTS of WATER
This is the hardest part of being healthy. We think it's easy to stay hydrated but is actually not. Every human being should drink at least 2 liters of water per day. Most of the time we are too busy to think about it and we can spend 24 hours with only one cup of water. This is the biggest mistake we can make! Water is essential for the regular function of our organs and for our organs' function. When our skin and hair are dried, means that we are far from consuming the right amount of water. Drinking water is also beneficial to keep our energy and mood up. Drinking water can also help relieve stress and anxiety before a public speech. Try it yourself!
